Project Description

Beer Tapping is among the elite list of those party tricks that make you a complete jerk. You waste half of someone’s beer, the sticky mess gets everywhere, and, in the end, no one’s laughing. Unless…you do it in the name of science—like we are. We set out to figure out what is really going on with all of the bubbles, why the beer fizzes so fast, and how to explain the massive volcano of foamy liquid that explodes out the top, spewing almost half of your beloved beer onto the ground at your feet. We found only one light tap is necessary for this action to occur, setting off a series of chain reactions within the liquid in the bottle. The result is a massive amount of foam erupting out of the top and over the sides of the container.
