For my final project for Experimental Methods, I built a color organ using a kit from Jameco Electronics. My color organ visually accompanies music with three sets of colored LEDs that flash according to the music’s beat. Starting with a pre-built circuit board, I translated a complex circuit diagram into reality. Perhaps the most valuable skill I learned was troubleshooting in order to get the device working. In the video I cover my experience during the build project, some of the basic principles behind how the device works, and bits of the knowledge I picked up along the way.
